OMG! OMG You Guys!

Benj Gallander is on Market Call! OMG!

Yeah, I know it's been awhile. If you can't remember, I have the attention span of a monkey or a small child. Plus, I've been pretty busy with life and stuff. So, yeah.

This won't really be a live blog since I'm a couple days late. It'll just be random snippets of my hot man love for Benj.

Here goes!

- Benj's top picks are down a lot from last time. Everyone else's are too, but I was hoping Benj would do better.

- According to Linda Sims, he'll be taking calls on "Contrarian investing from a technical perspective". No Linda Sims. That's wrong. You are stupid. I can't believe I'm saying this, but bring Hainsworth back.

- If they're gonna get someone to take over from Hainsworth, couldn't it have been Amanda Lang?

- Benj is giving economic advice! His ideas include:

- Don't bail out the automakers without employees taking a wage cut of at least 33%

- Instead of laying people off, just cut everyone's hours proportionally. I've heard this idea before, and I'm not really a fan of it.

- Have a vote on getting rid of the senate. This is a great idea!

- Benj wants to modify free trade. Sorry Benj, pretty much every economist thinks free trade is a good idea.

- Benj thinks you should have to have a minimum of 15% down to buy a house. I think that's a little extreme, especially being a real estate agent. Not that I'm biased or anything.

- Benj wants to add a 10 cent a litre tax to the price of gas. While this may be a good idea, good luck with it.

- The first caller wants to know about REITS. Benj likes them, but thinks you should wait.

- Benj is speaking at the financial forum in Toronto from Thursday to Saturday. If I was in Toronto I'd be all over that.

- There's an email from David about Bio-Extraction, a company that's only been listed for 2 years and is trading at a 52 week high. Nice fucking going David. Why do these dipshits keep getting to submit questions that are clearly not about contrarian investments?

- John from Brantford would vote for Benj if he ran for PM. Me too. His question is on Service Corp, a favorite of Contra for a while now. Benj likes it, even though it has quite a bit of debt.

- Does Benj even bother to brush his hair? Also, he's gotta be the worst dressed guest on BNN ever. This only adds to his awesomeness.

- Patrick from Montreal just called Benj Benji. Fuck I hate that. He's got some question on gold which, again, clearly isn't contrarian. Dumbass.

- James has an email on some company called Ramus. It has lots of debt, Benj doesn't like it and James is an idiot.

- Bob from Kitchener has a question on Mitec which Benj has liked and owned for a while. Nice job on that Bob. Benj still likes Mitec.

- Past pick time! I'm scared for you Benj.

- Top pick #1 is ATS Automation is down 20%. Contra still likes it and it seems like ATS is well on their way to recovery.

- Top pick #2 is Intertape Polymer. This one hurts, so lets not talk about it.

- Top pick #3 is Flextronics. This stock has gotten absolutely hammered, down over 70%. It's trading under $3 with a book value above $10. I'm not gonna lie, I'm tempted to go rub one off in the bathroom. More on this stock on a later post.

- Benj still likes the 3 and is continuing to hold. Linda Sims seems surprised by this. I'm surprised Linda Sims still has a job.

- And right on cue, Linda Sims trips over her words telling viewers the phone numbers. Nothing more needs to be said.

- Benj is shilling his new book, the Uncommon Investor III. You should buy it. Hell, spend the extra $10 to get the autographed copy directly from Benj.

- Benj just bought Citi, MBIA and Bank of Ireland personally. He points out that these companies could go to zero, or could be 5 or 10 baggers.

- John from Mississauga just hung up before he asked his question on Zarlink. Insiders are buying a lot which Benj likes. They are also eking out a profit, which is also a plus.

- Mo is calling from Toronto. He's bitching about being laid off, and he wants to know how long he has to wait until he's gonna get rehired. I'm guessing that if Mo is stupid enough to call the contrarian stock guy with this question, then it's gonna be a while. Jesus. Let's move on.

- I sure do love the internet, letting me not watch those stupid commercials where Venture Exchange companies get boners over how great they are.

- Another guy from Ontario is asking about Liquidation World. Contra bought it early. They've had some problems, but Benj still likes it.

- John from Victoria wants to know about XL Capital. Benj wanted to buy it at $3.11, but didn't get his order filled. Benj thinks this could be a huge winner. He'd buy it at a lower level with a target price between $30 and $40.

- Linda thinks the very high target prices are a little optimistic. Fuck you Linda. It works, look at Contra's performance.

- Jaques from Drummondville wants to know about Oilexco. Benj thinks it could go to zero.

- Eric from Ottawa wants to know where to put his $5000 in his new tax free savings account. Benj thinks a TFSA is a good idea, and wants Eric to put his 5k in something safe. While Benj likes the idea, he wants to combine the TFSA with RRSPs, therefore saving on some fees and advertising.

- Some knob gobbler from Toronto wants to know about Timminco. Totally not contrarian, even though it has been hammered lately.

- If Benj was a hot chick, I'd totally sleep with him/her. Just saying.

- Benj is outlining the contrarian philosophy. You know, beaten down stocks and sectors, trading under $25, companies that have been around for 10 years, etc.

- Top pick time!

- Top pick #1 is Flextronics. I heart Flextronics now. Time to do some research.

- Top pick #2 is cash.

- Top pick #3 is Yahoo! They paid $11.11 and their target is $32.74. Yahoo is the most hit site on the web, they have 3 billion in cash and are moving into web tv. I was surprised by this pick, but I'm intrigued by it.

- All done! You stay classy blogland.
